
Die onderwyslandskap in Suid-Afrika het oor die afgelope dekade ingrypend verander. Een van die stroomversnellings waarin die huidige onderwysbedeling hom bevind, is dié van leerderdissipline. Tradisionele beskouings en tradisionele dissiplineringsmetodes moes wyk voor die eise van die Grondwet se Handves van Regte.

In die lig hiervan is 'n navorsingsprojek oor leerderdissipline deur die Fakulteit Opvoedingswetenskappe van die Noordwes Universiteit geloods, en inligting oor alternatiewe benaderings tot dissipline is oor 'n wye front bekom. Waar daar vroeër sterk op beloning en straf as dissiplinemaatreëls gefokus is, blyk dit uit hierdie navorsing dat aspekte soos mede-eienaarskap, wedersydse respek en medeverantwoordelikheid sleutels is tot die skep van 'n vrugbare nuwe leerwêreld gekenmerk deur orde en dissipline.
Die wenke in hierdie boek toon hoe elke skool op 'n kreatiewe manier te werk kan gaan om dreigende chaos in die klaskamer tot geleenthede te omskep.
